Easter 2013

Wesley's class did a sight word egg hunt at school. It was fun to watch them all search for the eggs with the words they were missing on their lists. There were many different methods among them. Some took MUCH longer than others, but they all got it done. :)

Easter Sunday

Spring Break 2013

This was our first year to have a child with a Spring Break. Thankfully, Wesley's and John Mark's fell on the same week, so we took a road trip! Our final destination was Kentucky to visit all of our old friends, but we had a fantastic break in our travels on the way up and on the way back in Missouri with my cousin Erin and her family.

We spent two nights in Missouri on the way up and then headed off to Kentucky. We drove most of the day and showed up around 9:00 pm at our friends' house where some girls (and their families) from a Bible study I used to be a part of gathered to hang out. I'm pretty sad we didn't get a picture of everyone. It was so wonderful to see them all and get to laugh with them. We didn't take many pictures at all in Kentucky. It was a whirlwind of a trip!

We spent one day in Taylorsville and spent the whole day visiting our friends from Little Mount. We visited eight families at their homes and then met up with our old Sunday night eat-out crew at Penn Station for supper and then went to Homemade Pie and Ice Cream for dessert. I also got to see my old boss and fellow PA friend for lunch at their new practice, (which I really enjoyed!) while John Mark took the boys to a toy store that one of his good friend's (and old fellow pastor) owns. Whew! That was a full day, and we even got a nap in for Curtis!

When we came back through Missouri, Wesley and Curtis couldn't wait to see their cousins again. We got in after bedtime, but the next morning Wesley got some treehouse time with Gus, and Curtis got some more puppy lovin' before hitting the road again.

Thankfully, John Mark's parents took care of Owen while we were gone, so we got to see them coming and going as well!

February Christmas

Since we weren't able to make it to Kansas to see Kevin and Sara's family due to the boys being sick, we had a mini-Christmas in early February when they came down for a church conference nearby. This was our first time to meet Micah! Golly and Granddad came to spend a night and Paul and Christi came for supper one night as well, so we had the whole crew for one evening!

Narnia and Playhouse

John Mark and Wesley have been reading The Chronicles of Narnia since about the beginning of the school year. A few times a week they will sit down together and read for about half an hour or so. At first, Wesley appeared to not be very interested and would play while being read to. After about the first two or three sessions, Wesley was obviously hooked and started requesting to "read Narnia." They have also been reading it on trips, even just ones to go out to eat if we're driving a little farther than usual. So far, they have made it through "The Magician's Nephew," "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," "The Horse and His Boy," "Prince Caspian," and they are about half way through "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." Curtis often protests these long readings, so he and I go to his room sometimes to read something of his choice. Sometimes he just plays (somewhat) quietly around Daddy and Wesley.

I recently made a little playhouse table cloth to go over our dining room table. The boys have had some fun in there, and I think it will be a fun thing to bring out every now and then. Wesley requested an empty milk carton and water bottle to have inside so he could have a kitchen. He also wants a refrigerator. :)

Basketball

Wesley had his first try at organized sports this year. He did Upward Basketball, and he enjoyed it for the most part. His attention span/energy would run out a little after half-time. He liked making friends and seeing his friends from school at games. In fact, for one game, we couldn't find Wesley on the floor where he was supposed to be. We found him sitting on the other team's bench chatting with a boy from his class while his team played!

Wesley's School Christmas Party

For Wesley's class party, the kids got to wear pajamas to school. They exchanged books and had some fun snacks. Wesley has a great teacher and goes to a great school. We are thankful!
