Sea World

In the middle of July, we took a trip to Sea World! I had gotten some Groupon tickets at a pretty good price, and I was wanting to see the orca shows before they changed their presentations. We had such a great time. We were impressed with how well Evie did the whole day. She took some cat naps, and never really got cranky. We all were amazed at the orcas. We went to two orca shows, one we just stood at the top because we got there a little late, but we sat in the splash zone for the second (John Mark and Evie stayed at the top). We got soaked! We also went to a fun "Sea Lions Go to School" show that was really enjoyable. That one had a little otter in it that kept me laughing. The kids loved the rides that we did. We also got to watch a pretty amazing skiing/jet ski stunt show while we ate lunch.

We stayed with Mimi for three nights as part of our trip. Curtis read books to her, and Wesley was very helpful when she needed assistance. She was so amazed when Wesley and Curtis heated up their own frozen breakfast sandwiches one morning while John Mark and I slept in (Evie had had a rough night on her makeshift bed).

July: Evie at 10 months and Boys Having Fun

10 months old!

Wesley and Curtis asked us to help them make a birdhouse one evening, so John Mark got out some basic supplies and the three of them went to work. (It still doesn't have a roof.)

I saw this punching bag on the side of the road one day (with someone's trash) on my way to work and told John Mark about it. It was still there when he went to check it out, so we are now it's proud owners! Wesley practices his Tae Kwon Do moves on it.

The boys had a couple of sessions of swimming lessons with a friend from church. They both improved a lot this summer! Wesley's goal was to be able to tread water for one minute and Curtis' was to swim across the pool. They both met and exceeded their goals and got rewarded with getting to watch Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2.

It was too hot to jump on the trampoline most of the summer. Our remedy
was getting out the sprinkler and bathing suits!

Family Lunch and Bowling

Granddad and Golly and the Jones family drove to Fort Worth to meet us at Abuelo's for my birthday lunch at the beginning of July (a little late due to a busy June). We had a fun lunch and then went to a nearby bowling alley to spend a little more time together in the air conditioning. 

All redheads except Curtis! But he does have a headlamp...

This was our boys' first time to bowl. They seemed to really enjoy the different atmosphere. We had one lane with the gutters blocked for the kids. I lost. :)

June: Wesley Goes to Kids' Camp, VBS, and Evie at 9 months

The day after I got back from our cousin trip, John Mark and Wesley headed off to church camp in Waxahachie. From the stories they told, they had a great time. Our children's pastor was unable to go at the last minute, so John Mark and the other adults were more in charge than they had expected to be!

Curtis, Evie, and I stayed home and relaxed mostly. Evie started crawling this month!

For the rest of June, we didn't do anything major except for VBS the last week. 

We tried to go swimming at least once a week during the summer.

three, but the boys were in their underwear. Wesley
requested to not have those published for the world to see!

VBS!

I got even less pictures of VBS than usual this year. I did registration again, and both boys had a wonderful time during the week. Our theme was "He is the Light of the World." Wesley had his good buddy Grant with him this year, and Curtis got to be with his friend Aiden.
