Each year, the librarian at Wesley's school has a Pumpkin Character Contest. The kids get to decorate pumpkins in line with a book character to enter the contest. This was Wesley's first year to enter, and he chose "Big Nate." He had the idea to use pipe cleaners for his sticky up hair and just wanted to paint his face and shirt. They are also supposed to submit a poem to tell about the character. Wesley loved getting to type his out all by himself!
