Camping Trip

We went on a "wimpy" camping trip at the end of April that our city sponsored. We went to a little campsite near a small lake/pond and got to relax together. The weather that evening was wonderful and there were no mosquitos! We did know there was the possibility of crazy weather coming during the night, though.

There were some nature experts that showed
kids all sorts of things they had collected
like coyote skulls and wasp nests.

We didn't bring fishing poles, but there was a spot where
you could learn how to cast your line and reel in little
plastic fish from a tarp.

The sponsors served hot dogs, chips and drinks, so we
didn't have to do anything! Like I said, wimpy camping.

Curtis decided to go up to this guy and tell him all sorts
of random information. It was so funny. 

 The boys loved it, and we really all had a great time. Later in the afternoon, we went geocaching. The boy scouts put on a little show with a bunch of skits at dusk, and then we had a bug expert tell us about scorpions. He brought some black lights so that we could search at the edge of the woods for scorpions since their bodies fluoresce under the light. We followed the bug man around and we did see one! It crawled into the bark of a tree pretty quickly, but we could still see most of it's body. Gross, but cool.

When it came time to go to sleep, Wesley was out like a light. Curtis couldn't get calmed down, but finally did after a long while, and he and John Mark fell asleep. I didn't have any luck in the sleeping department. It was getting pretty windy and our tent has issues in the wind. It literally blows over with each strong wind so much that the sides hit your face. I was trying to keep it off of everyone's face until about 3:00 am when a really strong wind came and woke everyone up at once. John Mark and I (the wimpy campers) just decided to go on home and get real sleep since we had church the next morning. :)
